I Guess the Book Wasn't Exciting...

Carrie fell asleep reading in bed last night.

Settling In

We are settling in with Jenny Pony. All she wants to do is eat grass. The girls have ridden her around the pasture a little, but only with Mom at their side. She can only be out eating grass for an hour a day for the next few months. She has to get used to it slowly over time. Once the novelty of this new grass wears out, I expect the girls will be riding in the pasture to their hearts content. In the meantime, I have a welcome present from Jenny. She stepped on my baby toe. Or as the farrier said today, I erroneously put my baby toe under her hoof. This picture does not do it justice. It hurts!

Jenny Pony!

This weekend, Erin's life-long goal of having a horse has been fulfilled. Jenny Pony has come to live with us. She has been a school horse at Triple Rise Equestrian Center for the past twenty years and now she is retired. Erin & Carrie both started their horse riding lessons on her (three years ago for Erin, one year ago for Carrie).
Erin & her friend, Savanna with Jenny Pony. Here is the Pony Parade. Erin & Carrie's horse riding teacher, Kate, along with Laura & Ashley (and Erin!) are walking Jenny to our house from Triple Rise after the horse show on Saturday.

Update on Carrie: She is doing better. She is still cramping a bit but I think the worst is over.

A Blue Ribbon Day!

On Saturday Erin participated in a Schooling Show at Triple Rise Equestrian Center. She rode Honey.

Valentine's Black Bottom Pie

Happy Valentine's Day!
I special ordered a Black Bottom Pie from Marie Callendars. The pies now have a whipped cream top instead of the meringue I remember as a little girl. So I called and special ordered a meringue topped black bottom pie. While I was there picking it up today I noticed that Black Bottom is not even a menu choice anymore. Wonder why... So I'm curious to see what I even ordered.

When I did a web search on Black Bottom Pie from Marie Callendars, it seems all it is is chocolate and vanilla pudding in a pie crust. How weird - it was such magical deliciousness when I was little.

Carrie is still having tummy trouble. She missed her class party today. Bummer.

Mystery Solved

So Carrie and I went to the doctor today. To put it in layman's terms, she's "backed up". The doctor prescribed Miralax for the next three months! It was exciting though because Carrie got an Xray.

However, being home with Carrie the past two days - I haven't done my Valentine's Day shopping. I know Dave & the girls have done theirs because there was a See's Candy bag in the laundry room garbage. When I confronted the girls and tried to get the hiding place out of them, all they said was, "Why were you digging around in the garbage?" I thought Carrie would crack like an egg. I guess she's getting older. In my defense, the bag was laying right on top - there was no digging. It is terrible knowing that there is chocolate in this house somewhere and I don't know where.

Got some good news for the DosiDose Ranch last night. The apartment project is not going to be as expensive as we'd thought. It'll be so nice to finish that and have room for visitors.

Enough Puerto Rican?

Carrie is a little bit sick. She has a runny nose and her eyes are a little red. On the way to school she said that it seems she's always sick around a holiday. She's right. She was sick over Christmas and I remember her being sick around Halloween. She said "Maybe it's because I don't have enough Puerto Rican in me."
