Missing Melanie

Oh how I miss that Melanie in the middle. Today marks a year that she's not been with us. For me, her lessons are not taking anything for granted, and just sheer STRENGTH. She just plain flat out got gypped in this lifetime but never complained about it. I picture her right now in Heaven listening to Bon Jovi, shopping online for beaded purses and planning her next trip. She is always with me in my heart.
Love to Teyana, Chris, Hazel and my crafties.

Screwdrivers

So Carrie and I had a little discussion about screwdrivers today. I felt I was really imparting some wisdom upon her, explaining the different types and asking her to help me change out some light switches. I was feeling pretty empowered and wondered if she'd consider becoming an Electrician as her career until later that night when I heard her asking her dad which screwdriver he liked best, the standard or the "Phyllis"?

A Day in the Life of Cosmo Dose

A Day in the Life of Cosmo Dose
By Erin Dose
In the morning, when I (the Great Cosmo) get up, I really have to go outside. What I do outside is private. Then that big animal named Dave comes outside and calls me and Cassie (the Great Toy) inside. There, we eat a dry food breakfast. I do not like that dry, salty, brown meal. But I must eat it before Cassie can.

OUTSIDE AGAIN. Not because I have to, but because I want to. You see, I like brown, fuzzy
squirrels to chase. It is a hard job, but the good thing is The Toy doesn't do it!

BREAK. For the break, I will eat the Toy. She escaped. I am embarrassed. I will chase her now.
Here are a few things you should know about The Toy. She is black and fast. (She also has good
looking ears which are very delicious!)

INSIDE.I take a short nap then hide under the table while the People eat. If food falls, I will eat
it. Nothing. Nothing. Wait, wait, nothing. Darn!

BARN. The people didn't close the gate! First I run to the barn. There is a HUGE dog in there. I run right past it and into the feed room where I snack on grain. Then I run into the hay place and through the secret door to the smelly place and then to the poop place where I enjoy living in the country.

BACKYARD. Well, the people came and caught me, in my act of enjoyment, and put me behind
fences. This, by the way, is not as enjoyable as the poop place. I am usually out here for a long time.

DINNER. Back to the horrid, dry food. Then I hide under the table and wait again. Yay! LITTLE
PERSON SPILLED ALMOST ALL HER FOOD!! Me and Cassie have a treat!

LIVING ROOM. Cuddle with my favorite people.

NIGHT. I try to sneak onto couch but the people shoved a table in the way. Rats!

LATER IN THE NIGHT. I cuddle up with Cassie and sleep, so I have energy for a new day. Good Night!

Gone to the Dogs!

It's a big dog party at the DoSiDose this Memorial Day Weekend.
Guest dogs are Tippy, the yellow fat lab and Baby Happiness.

Mid-May Update

For Mother's Day we cleaned the pond. It was pretty bad. I'd like to figure out a better rock situation. These round rocks just trap leaves and gunk. I'm willing to completely remove them and mortar in some flat rocks around the perimeter but I'm clueless about the waterfall. Any suggestions? Amazingly, Carrie's fish "Calla" survived the winter, the heron and the gunk. After we build a net for the top, we'll get some low maintenance goldfish.
Another update for the DosiDose is that we finally got a riding mower. We've been here over a year using our push mower and I was done. It took over three hours to mow the grass every time. Now it should take about an hour. We are still getting used to the mower.
There was an "incident" with a small tree.
We've been enjoying Jenny now that the weather is getting nicer.
The girls have been bareback riding quite a bit.

James Buchanan

Carrie has to do a report later this month on James Buchanan, our 15th President.
She's already learned quite a few facts about him.
She tells me that he was the only president so far who never married.
She also mentioned that his slogan was "Save the Onion!"
(I think she meant "Union").
