Horse Camp

Last week the girls had a great time at horse camp. They made the tye dye shirts shown above. Their riding really improved as well. They had a practice show at the end of the week. Both girls did great!

She choose this color because it matched her new Venice poster (under the window) so well. It really is more of a teenager room than a kids room now. My baby is growing up. Speaking of Venice, the new Nancy Drew game, The Phantom of Venice, is out. You know how we are spending our evenings this week...Scopa!

DoSiDose Update

I see that it's been almost a week since a new post here. No good excuse, just enjoying a lazy summer. We had some Norwegians visit this week (Dave's old college buddies) and some extended Doses over last night. We barbequed the Costco tri-tip for both occasions. That meat always comes out so delicious.

Jenny pony escaped (for the second time) while the Norwegians were visiting. Just pushed herself out the front gate - so embarrassing. She ran down the street again to her previous home. A neighbor had to call us, we did not even notice. Dave is getting a locking thing for the gate so that won't happen again.

Erin has picked out "Irresistible Iris" for the paint color in her bedroom. We'll see how that turns out. We'll do one wall to start, just in case it's too dark.

Carrie has to get her front two teeth removed by the dentist (Uncle Steve). He took one look at that situation last night and said we should make an appointment. I've never had any of my teeth pulled (except the wisdom teeth). I wonder if the tooth fairy gives a bonus for pulled teeth.

Next week Erin and Carrie are at horseback riding camp all week. I won't know what to do with myself without them most of the day.

The Smith girls are going to see "Mama Mia" tonight.

Saving Money and Energy

I've been very proud of myself so far this summer. I have used the clothes dryer only minimally. I have an extra long clothesline outside the back porch and I can hang out two loads of laundry a day on the days I'm not working. So far it's been a huge success until:

"Mom, why are the bath towels so crispy?"

I myself don't mind the crispy towels. It's like getting an extra little loofa action at the end of your shower.

Great Softball Season

The Black Bears had a great season. Coach pitch! and all the girls did so well. The season end was bittersweet because we will miss Kendall, the redhead on the end, who is moving to Texas. She's been Carrie's pal since kindergarten.

Here's Carrie with the Sydneys. One is Sydney and the other is Sydnee. These girls played soccer together as well. This is their fourth sports season together.

Here is "slugger" on first base. Her hitting improved so much.
She practiced with Dave a lot and it showed.

Shark Girl!

Carrie is soon to be eight years old, but she hasn't lost any baby teeth yet! Recently we've noticed that she has a permanent tooth coming in behind her baby teeth. She's working on her second row, like a shark! Luckily, the front baby teeth are getting pretty loose - finally! Tooth Fairy, get ready to come to our house.

I love the new google feature that tells you when your favorite blogs have been updated. In the past, I have been checking and re-checking and I know people track. So when they see I've been on their blog only for a second, three times a day to see if they've posted anything new - they might think I might not have enough to do in the day, perhaps even neglect my housework... because if I tidied up the house I might find the missing items.
